Finally

So, it has been a very long time since I have updated my blog.  I have been busy with all the training and have had limited access to the internet.  I am still in Indiana but will be leaving very soon for the Near East.  I am looking forward to finally getting this going and to come home.

I talk to my wife almost every day and am amazed at how much happens when I am not there.   We have bought a new house and she is going to move on her own.  This will be the second time that she has had to move our household without my help.

In the next few days I will be in a part of the world that I only know of from the news and academia.  I am looking forward to being in the part of the world that has witnessed so many changes in human history.  Not to mention the birth of civilization.  I hope I will walk away from this with a positive mindset and a greater respect for the people in the region.

One last point, the soldiers that I am going with and will lead are some of the best I have ever known.  I have the greatest confidence in them all!

We finally made it to a "MOB" station.  Now we just have to get through the next month then we can be on our way to Iraq.

One piece of irony, when we get to Iraq it will be 140 degrees, it was 50 degrees when we showed up in Indiana.  I hope to post more but there is really nothing to say accept that we are training every day and beginning to get a better grasp of what our mission will be. Got to go squad meeting!

Hey all! And Hi to my followers.  The big day is around the corner (April 10) I am busy packing and trying to tie up loose ends before I leave.  Nichole (my wife) is doing very well, I am constantly surprised at how well she is dealing with being separated for a year; she will have to buy a house and move without my help, she is probably better off without my help!

I have been through the gauntlet of family dinners and goodbyes, and frankly I am ready to go and get it over with.  I am aware that things are cooling down in Iraq now and I hope this affords me the chance to experience the culture on more friendly terms.  I plan on taking a lot of pictures of the region in hopes of framing a positive picture of the country.

Well I have to get back to things, I am new at the blogging thing so my posts will be longer in the future as my experiences increase.  Thanks for reading!

Hello everyone!  Time is moving very quickly, I am in training once again at the Armory.  This round of classes will be done on Monday, then I should have a couple of weeks off before the balloon drops.  I am really looking forward to going and seeing such a historic landscape...this would be a lot of fun if not for the war.  I posted some pictures of me and the equipment I will be driving.  Wish me luck

First Post

Hello to all who know me and everyone else.  I am getting ready for a deployment to Iraq.  I will be leaving in the Spring and be deployed for one year.  I will post pictures and update with information when I can to insure that family and friends will stay informed.
